Beatles tribute band, Mr. Mustard, will perform in a special collaborative concert with students from the Mount St. Mary Academy Instrumental Program on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 7pm. The Beatles Spectacular Concert will feature a program of Beatles music including such favorites as She Loves You, Help, Get Back, Lady Madonna, Yesterday, Got to Get You into My Life, the legendary Hey Jude and many more.
Mr. Mustard will perform separately in the show as well as with the Mount St. Mary Academy Concert Band and the Western New York All-Catholic Honor Band. Over two hundred middle and high school students will take the Mount St. Mary stage in tribute to the Beatles.
Mount St. Mary Academy's instrumental music program, which is one of the most robust in the area, is home to New York State's only all-girls, fully-instrumented marching band as well as an award-winning Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, and four Dance Teams.
Mount St. Mary Academy musicians have performed throughout the nation and internationally, including performances at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida; Bahamas; Grand Cayman Islands; Cozumel, Mexico; as well as in the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade and the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Hope Ball in Washington, DC.
"I'm very excited about this collaboration that allows our students to work with performers with a wide range of musical abilities and backgrounds," said John Hathaway, director of Mount St. Mary Academy Instrumental Program.
"This tribute to the Beatles is truly a multi-generational event," said Mount St. Mary Principal Dawn Riggie. "We are thrilled to be hosting a concert that allows young musicians to work side-by-side with professionals while learning about one of music's most influential bands."
The concert will be held in the school's 1,100-seat auditorium. Tickets for the show are $8 in advance or $12 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased by calling the school at 877-1358.
