Mountstock: Are You Ready to Rock?
by afussellAre you ready to rock? Mount St. Mary Academy will be bringing down the house for over 200 area high school teens at their annual outdoor battle of the bands and social mixer.
The 4th annual Mountstock, a local high school battle of the bands will be staged at Mount St. Mary Academy on Friday, September 16, from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. This student-sponsored and organized event draws hundreds of teens from all parts of the region to cheer for their favorite rock band. At the end of the evening, the audience will vote for the winner.
The show will open with a special feature performance by 14-year-old Buzz Records recording artist Dallas Pace, who will be accompanied by Grammy-nominated producer and Buzz co-founder Anthony Casuccio and Breckenwood frontman Garrett Shea.
This year's bands include The Blind Wires (from Williamsville North High School), Larrabe (Alden and Pembroke High Schools and Erie Community College), WiT (Kenmore East High School), Between Glass Walls (Williamsville North High School), Rendered Useless (Kenmore West High School) and the 2010 Mountstock victors Canoe (Williamsville South High School).
With bands performing from six area high schools, this event has mass appeal to teens all over Western New York. "I look forward to Mountstock all year," says Claire Kirby, Mount St. Mary Academy senior. "It's our chance to meet people from all over while hanging out with our friends and hearing a great concert."
Tickets are available for $10 each and may be purchased at the door. All high school students are welcome to attend. The event is held in the student parking lot, located immediately behind Mount St. Mary Academy at 3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore.
Mount St. Mary Academy, founded by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur in 1927, is an all-girls Catholic college-preparatory high school located at 3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore. Mount St. Mary's is consistently ranked among the top ten Western New York public and private high schools.
