Mount St. Mary Academy student actors and musicians will perform "Godspell" as this year's Fall Musical on November 18, 19 and 20. The production stars senior Larissa Hughes as Jesus and highlights the singing, dancing and musical orchestration talents of Mount St. Mary students and young men from area high schools. The performances will be held in the school auditorium (3756 Delaware Ave) at 7:30 p.m. on November 18 and 19, with a matinee showing at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 20.

Terrie George, owner of Terrie George Dance Theatrics studio and Mount St. Mary's dance instructor, directs this year's production. "This production is near and dear to my heart," says George.  "The music and story of Godspell are so captivating. The show conveys a message of compassion and kindness to performers and audience alike."

The beloved musical features fan favorite songs such as Day By Day, Prepare Ye and O Bless The Lord My Soul.  The musical will also feature area student and professional musicians in the Pit Orchestra under the direction of Tim Wells, who also directs vocals.

Throughout the performances, Mount St. Mary Academy will additionally be hosting a Barnes and Noble Book Sale. A wide selection of books, calendars, gifts and more will be on sale in the Student Dining Hall on November 18 and 19 beginning at 6:30 p.m. and on November 20 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the school's Marie MacIntire Nigro Library and assist in the purchase of new books for the students and faculty.

Mount St. Mary Academy has a long-standing tradition of musical excellence.  Previous productions have received critical acclaim including the student production of "Bye Bye Birdie" which received Kenny awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Choreography.
