Annie Deck-Miller to lead Board of Trustees
by afussellMount St. Mary Academy is beginning the 2010-11 school year with a new President of the Board of Trustees, Ann Deck-Miller, Class of 1989. Deck-Miller currently serves as the Senior Media Relations Manager for Roswell Park Cancer Institute and previously was the Managing Editor of the Buffalo Law Journal from 2006-2010.
Under Deck-Miller's leadership, the Board of Trustees will seek to expand the opportunities of young women across Western New York by supporting the school's fundraising and scholarship-development efforts, and to continue developing new and fun ways of reconnecting with its alumnae.
"I'm proud of my connection to Mount St. Mary, so it's been a real pleasure to become an active part of the MSM community again." says Deck-Miller. "We're working hard to give area girls the opportunity to thrive as scholars, athletes, artists, performers and citizens."
Mary Burich-Feeney, Class of 1979, Director of Corporate Communication for Delaware North Companies, will serve as Vice President. Tara Karch Cross, Class of 1995, an attorney with Gibson, McAskill and Crosby, LLP will continue her term as Secretary. Anne Jakiel McBride, who has an extensive background in banking including formerly serving as Vice President at M&T, will continue as Treasurer.
New to the board this year are Kevin Hardwick, Legislator for Erie County's 10th District and Associate Professor of Political Science at Canisius College; Harry Carroll, Jr. President of Carroll Financial Services, Inc.; Lisa Murray-Roselli, Class of 1984, freelance writer and editor; Sr. Carol Schwartz, SSMN, former MSM Principal; and Nancy Connolly Polino, Class of 1979, a volunteer organizer at St. Luke's Mission of Mercy.
Mount St. Mary Academy, founded by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur in 1927, is an all-girls, Catholic college-preparatory high school located at 3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore. Mount St. Mary's is ranked in the top 5% of all Western New York high schools.
