Rebecca Siegrist will be 2010 Valedictorian

Rebecca Siegrist, a Youngstown resident, will be Mount St. Mary Academy's Class of 2010 Valedictorian. Angela Kapsiak will serve as the class's Salutatorian at graduation which will be held on June 6.

Siegrist has earned a 98.4 average over her four years at Mount St. Mary's, consistently landing at the head of the class. She has received recognition as the National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Student and was the recipient of the United States Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award in 2009.

Siegrist plans to attend University of Pittsburg, where she has been awarded an Honors scholarship. She will pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Kapsiak, a Cheektowaga resident, has maintained a 97.6 average, receiving First Honors recognition throughout her high school career. She will attend the State University of New York at Buffalo in the Fall.

Mount St. Mary's will graduate its 79th class on June 6, 2010, consisting of 73 graduates. Collectively, the class has received over $9 million in scholarships. The ceremony will be held in the school's auditorium.

Mount St. Mary Academy, founded by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur, is an all-girls, Catholic college-preparatory high school located at 3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore. Mount St. Mary's is ranked in the top 5% of all Western New York high schools.
