Mount St. Mary Sophomore, Malayah White broke the 200 meter record with a 25.64 second run at the Monsignor Martin Association All-Catholic Track and Field Championships on May 25. This is the second record White has broken this track season, showing great promise of things to come from this young star.

White took first place in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes, leading her team to a 5th place standing. The MSM Thunder also won third place in the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay races, with White playing a pivotal role.

The team finished the meet with 44 points, a marked improvement over last year. Junior Danielle Stewart finished third in the 400 meter dash. Sophomore Kristian Walker finished sixth in long jump and Jessica Harms, a junior, finished fourth in shot put.

In recent competition, White broke the league record for the 100 meter with a time of 12.2 seconds. She took first place in the 50 and 300 meter events at the MMA All-Catholic Indoor Track Championships and earned a place on the All-Catholic First Team in the 55 and 300 meter, as well as the 4x150 meter relay.

White's record will be tested at the State Federation meet on June 4 and 5 where she is a serious contender to take the 100 meter race. She will also be competing in the Junior Olympics and Empire State Games this summer.
