Mount St. Mary Academy inducts 36 into National Honor Society

Mount St. Mary Academy inducted 36 juniors into the National Honor Society on February 2 at a ceremony attended by students, faculty and family. Inductees have maintained a 90 percent average throughout their high school tenure and additionally have exhibited qualities of leadership, service and character required of members of National Honor Society.

Speaking to the inductees, Annie Deck-Miller, MSM alumna, vice president of the school’s Board of Trustees and Managing Editor of the Buffalo Law Review, noted that today’s National Honor Society students face the challenge of competing with men for leadership positions in a continually gender-skewed job market. She encouraged students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them at Mount St. Mary’s in order to meet that challenge.

The 36 new inductees will join 29 members of the Mount St. Mary chapter of National Honor Society, which promotes continued scholastic achievement, leadership and service to the greater community.

“These new National Honor Society members have worked hard, achieved much and attained tremendous successes,” said Principal Dawn Riggie. “We look forward to more great things from them in the future.”

Mount St. Mary Academy, founded by the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur in 1927, is an all-girls, Catholic college-preparatory high school located at 3756 Delaware Avenue in Kenmore. Mount St. Mary’s is ranked in the top 5% of all Western New York high schools.
